We’ve been trying to make our own bread these last few weeks and I have to say it’s been very satisfying to finally make a loaf that you enjoy eating. We are taking the easy way and letting our new friend Oster whip up the dough for us but nonetheless it is satisfying and homemade and i like it.
here is the recipe that my dear friend Colleen gave me:
put ingredients in the bread maker in the following order
1 1/2 cups warm water
4 tbsp. oil (I use olive oil)
3 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
4 c. of flour (i have experimented here and found that 3 c. whole wheat and 1 c. all purpose is what I like)
make a small little well in the flour for yeast.
2 1/4 tsp yeast
place bread maker on dough setting and press start.
after dough is done take it out.
separate into two bread pans and allow to rise a second time.
bake at 350 for 25 minutes.
brush the top of your loaves with milk and then let cool.
Yesterday I made buns out of the recipe – I think i like the bread better – but forgot to take a picture of my loaves so the bun picture will have to do.
stay tunes for the adventure of oster and cinnamon buns.
