photo a day: week two.

day 5: smile.  there are many things i like about my husband but his smile is definitely way up there on my list of favourites.

day 6: 5PM.  i was laying on my couch.  like i do most days after i get home from my practicum.

Imageday 7: something you wore.  when i bought my new glasses i thought i would only wear them sometimes to dress up, but they are a everyday thing now a day. a kindergarden kid looked at me the other day and said, “i like your huge glasses!”  i decided to take it as a compliment. haha. and the earrings are my new favourite picked out by my sister and bought by my mom.  thanks.

day 8: window.  we went skiing again this week.  pre-skiing we stopped in at the thrift store and the station arts centre for soup and yogurt.  lovely day.  this was out the window as we sat and waited for our soup.

day 9: red.  it was late and i was in my car.  this was all i could see that was red.

day 10: loud.  this is lovely little wooden speaker that j made.  so creative he is.  it requires no electricity. it’s just wood.  and somehow he made it so it makes our music from our iphones louder.  it really is brilliant and you are welcome to come over and see it in person.

Imageand finally day 11:  someone you talked to.  i talked to this little girl twice today.  first at her house.  with her mom and dad. then at her grandma’s where j and i ate supper tonight.  i love this little girl so so much.

and here’s a few extra from this week’s activities…

as mentioned we went to the thrift store in rosthern – which i highly recommend to all.  if you scroll back, i think i’ve mentioned it more than once on this little blog. the buttons looked so great.

i went to seedy saturday. also wonderful.

and i heart my sister. and think she’s a fabulous mom.

and finally – to add to the longest blog post ever…

i read this this week.  not everyday is fun and bliss.  i start feeling sorry for myself thinking i’m too busy.  it’s a cycle i have – i had it before my practicum and it’s something i have now. but if i’m going to be honest i’m not.  and i want to start to think this way.  to consciously choose the way i spend my time.

I was challenged by these words in the post (article),

“Change your language. Instead of saying “I don’t have time” try saying “it’s not a priority,” and see how that feels. Often, that’s a perfectly adequate explanation. I have time to iron my sheets, I just don’t want to. But other things are harder. Try it: “I’m not going to edit your résumé, sweetie, because it’s not a priority.” “I don’t go to the doctor because my health is not a priority.” If these phrases don’t sit well, that’s the point. Changing our language reminds us that time is a choice. If we don’t like how we’re spending an hour, we can choose differently.”

so yay to changing my language, to purposefully choosing where i will spend my time.  i’m going to try it anyway and see how it goes…

memories of the summer.

i was almost up to my knees this morning as i pushed a foot of snow off my car to slowly, slip my way to work.  it was cold.  and slippery.  and my feet felt wet.  and i was cranky.  today i wished for summer.

i made this video this summer of our 30th birthday trip to banff.  so here it is to remind us all of the glories of summer.

three cheers for summer!!!

week one : of photo a day challenge.

day one: up… this is what i saw that evening looking up out my windows in the living room.

day two: fruit… similar to the mango picture from last week.  the mango’s have now been eating and replaced with delicious oranges!

day three: my neighbourhood.  this one was a day late but by far the most enjoyable.  i set out to just take a picture of my street but it was so nice out that i ended up wandering around the neighbourhood and finding all the fun places i like in this neighbourhood.  i think i could write a whole post of why i heart city park… maybe i will someday but for now here is the pic(s) for that day.

day four: bedside.  since the new room make-over last week my bed is now against the wall which mean my bedside table is now on the wall.  it seems to be working well minus the morning that the books fell on my head 🙂

that’s it for now.  have a good week.

this week.

i was back at my practicum this week.  a little less tired than before the break which feels good.  i went to this concert. Image

with my dear friend Dana Perkins… i’ve said it before but i’ll say it again. it feels so good to be with a friend who has known you so so long.  it fills up this spot in my heart that i usually forget is there until it’s getting full again. friends.  how lucky we are to have our wonderful little community.

and i would just like to say i heart jann arden.  oh my, the music, the laughter.  i highly recommend seeing her when she’s in your part of the world.

on another note.  i wrote/drew out a little inspiration last night.

sometimes, ok more than sometimes, i get home and instantly head to the internet to entertain my evenings away.  and i forget that there is actually other things that can fill my time and brain in my house. when i was on my break last week it was so enjoyable to fill my time with good things around my home.  but the inspiration quickly leaves after a day of work.  so hopefully this is a good reminder.

and finally stay tuned for this.

i’m doing this march photo a day challenge on instagram but also spreading the love on the old blog and joining up with my friend amy loewen to do an interprovincial blog project around this… doesn’t that make it sound so cool.  haha.

anyway, stay tuned for my exciting daily pics 🙂
